How
long will the repairs take?
Each
chip repair is different but the minimum amount of time it takes
to repair a chip is 25 minutes, up to a maximum of approximately
40 minutes. Generally speaking the longer we can leave a repair
to take the better the chance of it being a succesful repair!
Are
the repairs permanent?
Although
we can't guarantee the repairs, once the resin has cured it bonds
permanently into the screen. In over 2 years of carrying out stone
chip repairs, we have never had any fall out! The equipment, resins
and training used by AutoView are second to none.
Can
you repair any size chip?
You
will probably be surprised at what can be repaired, however, due
to the random nature of stones and other debris hitting the windscreen,
coupled with length of time the damage has been exposed to the elements,
it is extremely difficult to judge whether we will be able to carry
out a succesful repair, until the repair process has been completed.
Do
you offer a guarantee?
We
guarantee that once a succesful repair has been carried out, your
windscreen will have it's structural integrity restored. Effectively
your Windscreen is scrap once it has been chipped, and although
we will make every effort to repair it to the very best industry
standards, there is still the potential that it will not be possible
to repair the screen or that the screen will crack further once
the repair process has been started, please remember that your screen
would have cracked in any case! We will not charge you for any unsuccesful
repairs!
Do
I have to come to you?
we
can carry out the repair at your home or office, in all but the
most extreme weather.
Will
I be able to see where you have repaired my screen?
Yes,
although how much of it you will be able to see will depend on how
well the repair takes. In the best circumstances you will be left
with a tiny smudge, which you would have to be very close to the
screen and actively seeking it out to notice at all.
What
if the chip has gone yellow or discoloured?
Laminated
windscreen's are made up of two layers of glass, seperated by an
interlayer of synthetic material. If the chip has discoloured ,
it is likely that water and other airborne contaminents have got
to the interlayer. Whilst a repair is still possible, some discolouration
will still be present.
Will
I have to pay anything?
This
very much depends on your insurance company and the type of policy
you have. In general most leading insurance companies will pay for
a repair on a fully comprehensive policy. However, please be sure
to check your policy first.
Even
if your insurance company won't pay, it makes good sense to pay
for the repair yourself, because eventually that stone chip
will cause your screen to crack!
